Hot Nights in the City
Summer has arrived in New York City, and with it, the Tuesday night race series at Floyd Bennett Field. For the second race in the series temperatures were into nineties, but after taking two leader’s jerseys at last week’s race we weren’t going to miss this one.
The TBD-MDC squad repeated last week’s successes, with Shane scoring a bunch of points in the green jersey intermediate sprint competition. In the final sprint, Leah and Shane went second and third, sufficient to leave Leah tied for the GC lead in the Series. On the Men’s side the team raced aggressively, with Yosef getting in a late race two man break. Things came together on the last lap with Scott putting in another massive sprint to finish second, sufficient to retain his GC series lead.
The final tally after two weeks of racing: five podiums including two wins, and two riders either in the GC lead or tied for it. There is still a lot of racing to come, but what a start to a summer of weekday racing…
